Young Harriet Tubman was stubborn and headstrong. She longed and prepared for only one thing..to be free!
ACTIVITY: Create a Mystery Report about a famous African American.
List eight things about the person. Mix up the clues. One must be a give away clue. Ask a volunteer to give a number between 1 and 10.
Read the clue for that number. The person can guess or pass. Ask for more volunteers until all clues are read or the topic is guessed.

  1. I had sixteen brothers and sisters.
  2. I was the first child in my family not born a slave.
  3. I served as an advisor to President Roosevelt.
  4. I attended a mission school, a seminary and a Bible Institute.
  5. I was named "Mother of the Century" in 1954.
  6. I was a college president.
  7. I opened a first school for Negro children in 1904.
  8. I served as a U.S. representative to the United Nations.
